What a fantastic collection this is! It’s got really catchy, appealing melodies, so it immediately gets students interested. On top of that, the pieces are structured in a really clever way so that the technique that each piece addresses is repeated really regularly (often using a form of AABA structure). This has two major advantages: firstly, it means that the student can learn the piece fairly quickly (which helps retain the interest of even students with short attention spans), and secondly it means that they get plenty of chance to work on the particular technique without even really being aware that they are doing a technical exercise. I think that makes this one of the cleverest books of piano music that’s come out in recent years. Bravo!
