Digressions
£8.50
By Melanie Spanswick
Digressions for piano by Melanie Spanswick are five piano pieces in Minimalist style. This collection marks Melanie Spanswick’s debut in composition. We recommend Digressions for piano for students at the Intermediate level (or Grades 4-6 ABRSM standard). Melanie describes her pieces as ‘easily accessible and very comfortable to play. Piano notes accompany each piece, containing helpful practice advice. We believe that ‘Digression’s for piano would make a perfect choice for those who enjoy playing the piano at home. Digressions for piano will be equally popular as a supplement piano sheet music resource for a music school student. Melanie has recorded all five piano pieces from the Digressions for piano collection and you can listen to them either by clicking on the audio links below or go to her Youtube channel where you can watch Melanie performing.

WOW… I wish I had ordered more than 1 book! Each piece is so unique & incredibly well written. It’s perfect for so many various performance venues. My students will love it! Bravo!!

I love this book very much. Not only the pieces are beautiful, they are excellent for working with various technical skills. My son is learning Karma to work on beautiful tone and phrasing, and Digression to work on arpeggios, intervals, and RH/LH melody over arpeggio accompaniment. We plan one of those pieces for 2016 National Piano Guild.

Today I choose a new repertoire for my Intermediate- Advanced students, and played Karma. This piece is amazing to develop technique skills, fine motor skills for both hands, and for melodic balance between hands. This is a great choice for students to learn a new modern piece and be familiar with new composer name. Thank you for this opportunity!

Thank you, Melanie, for creating such unique and beautiful pieces. I get really excited when I come across late intermediate music that is different than what we usually play, and add on to of that beautiful haunting melodies….perfect student savers!! I can’t wait to hear these from my students for years to come!

I really like the pieces in this book, it is very different to the type of pieces I normally find for my intermediate to advanced students, so this is a very refreshing indeed! The teaching notes at the back of the book are very useful, I wish there are more books with teaching notes like that! Digression is one of my favourites in the book, a grade 5 pupil of mine is playing this and loves the epic-sound of this piece. Great for working on arpeggios and using different touch and tone.
