Kajsa Orreteg is a Swedish pianist, piano teacher, and composer.

Her musical language embodies a distinct Scandinavian character that captivates piano students, teachers, performers and listeners alike.

We were thrilled to premiere several of Kajsa's piano pieces at the Star Prize Festival 2026, our annual showcase event for young pianists at the Royal Albert Hall in London since 2018.

All compositions now appear in her debut anthology, 'Ballads to the Northern Star' (EVC057), available as a digital download on this website and as a hard copy from music retailers worldwide.  Trade orders are available from our distributor, Hal Leonard Europe.

The anthology includes twelve intermediate-level piano ballads, ranging from early to late intermediate. The titles are in both English and Swedish.

Kajsa: 'I began composing, as I was inspired by my pupils’ requests to play new music in contemporary styles.

After ten years of developing and refining my works together with my pupils, I am delighted that my music will be available to young pianists and their teachers worldwide.

With equal passion for teaching and composing, my foremost ambition is to create educational piano repertoire that resonates with pupils’ and teachers’ interests and inspires them to engage with contemporary classical music.

My educational piano works draw on contemporary classical traditions, with harmonic influences from jazz and pop.'

Raised in Stockholm’s classical music scene, Kajsa moved to Malmö to study jazz and now holds a Master of Arts in Music Education from the Malmö Academy of Music at Lund University
