EVC Festival at the Albert Hall

After two long years, we were delighted to welcome aspiring pianists from the USA, Colombia, Armenia, Israel, Albania, Germany, and United Kingdom to perform in the:

  • Concert with the Band – pianists will be performing works by EVC composers with the professional band
  • Contemporary Classical Recital – the programme will include works by EVC composers, feature Ukrainian composers Skorik, Kapustin, Saratsky, Sasko and compositions by Liebermann, Montague, Ligeti, Schoenberg and Komitas to name but a few.

What a wonderful, fabulous, inspirational and deeply memorable day at the Royal Albert Hall! Thank you so much for your vision, kindness, sensitivity, inspirational and remarkable support. It was a wonderful day and everything was superbly delivered. The smiles, happiness, excitement and joy from all the children, teachers, parents and composers was exceptional.

My family and I really enjoyed the wonderful event yesterday at the Royal Albert Hall – it was great to hear such a variety of contemporary classical music written by living composers! One of my favourite pieces was “Lavender Haze” which you composed – it was really beautiful and emotional. I also really enjoyed learning Mark Goddard’s “Preludes About Gods” which were unlike anything I’d played before! It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of the wonderful event.
Ariana Pethard, performer, UK

Huge congratulations – looks like it was amazing. And what about that red piano!?

Elena Cobb:

‘Memories of your performance at the Elena Cobb Star Prize Festival on the world-famous stage will stay with you forever. It will build your confidence, character and self-esteem and one day, when you are older, you will be telling your own children: “When I was your age, I played the piano at the Royal Albert Hall.’

Elena Cobb Star Prize Festival at the Royal Albert Hall is a unique event with performance opportunities for young pianists from around the world. It was first introduced in 2014 when Elena Cobb began working with the UK and overseas music festivals. Today, many of them cherish the opportunity to perform at the annual Elena Cobb Star Prize at the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room on the red piano that used to belong to Sir Elton John himself!”
